Sulfur can be obtained by Mining. It cannot be detected with a scanner.
Sulfur can be mined with a shovel or pickaxe from the top layer of dirt from the grassland, forest, canyon, and desert biomes. When a block of dirt is mined, sulfur is obtained by chance (approx. 20%).
In the desert biome, only the top layer of sand with a gravel texture will provide sulfur. pre-Beta
